How to Set Up the Sangoma S-Series IP Phones

This guide explains how to set up the Sangoma S-Series series IP phones.

This guide will apply for the following handsets:

Configuration

  1. Obtain the handset IP address.
    Press the Config button on the far right, select Status then select Information. Note the IP address
  2. Type the IP address into your web browser.
  3. Log into the web interface
    If the handset was supplied by SureVoIP then the default username is admin and the password is the last 6 digits of the MAC. Otherwise the default username is admin and the default password is admin
  4. Go to the Account tab
  5. Click on Basic
  6. Ensure Account Active is set to Yes
  7. Set Primary SIP Server the SIP Registrar as shown in your Welcome Pack
  8. Ensure SIP Transport is set to UDP (unless we advise otherwise)
  9. Set SIP User ID and SIP Authenticate ID to your SIP Username as shown in your Welcome Pack
  10. Set Authenticate Password to your SIP Password (Secret) as shown in your Welcome Pack

Additional Settings

These are optional settings, but are highly recommended to get the best experience out of your phone.

To set time server

  1. Go to Settings → Date&Time tab
  2. Set Timezone to 0 United Kingdom(London) (or the timezone relevant to your location)
  3. Set NTP Server to 0.uk.pool.ntp.org - or set to your own company NTP server if available
  4. Set Backup NTP Server to 1.uk.pool.ntp.org - or set to your own company NTP server if available
  5. Set Daylight Saving Time to Auto

To set SIP keep-alive

  1. Go to Account → Advanced
  2. Select the relevant account, usually the default of Account 1
  3. Set Sip Keep Alive mode to SIP OPTION
  4. Set Sip Keep Alive Interval(Seconds) to 30 (you may need to adjust this value depending on your firewall)

To set codecs

  1. Go to Account → Advanced
  2. Select the relevant account, usually the default of Account 1
  3. Set Choice 1 to G.722(wideband)
  4. Set Choice 2 to PCMA
  5. Set PTime(ms) to 20

Troubleshooting

If registration is failing, check over the settings entered above.

Ensure SIP ALG is disabled on your router. See this page for further information.

If the Status page shows timeout, check over your firewall settings.
