Ekiga is an open source softphone, which allows you to use VoIP technology from your computer with a headset, or speakers and microphone. It runs on Windows and Linux.
Ekiga can be downloaded from the Ekiga website, or if running Linux, it may be available in the repository by searching in the Software Management tool.
Installing Ekiga is straight-forward, simply double-click the file once you have downloaded it and follow the on-screen instructions, or search in the Software Management tool on Linux, and it will be automatically downloaded and installed.
When you first run Ekiga, you will need to set it up to use your VoIP service.
Click on Edit then Account. You should see this screen appear.
Click Accounts then Add a SIP Account
Fill out the following fields:
The User and Authentication User should be identical.
Everything else should be left as default.
Click OK and begin making calls.
If calls do not work, check that the User Password and Registrar have been entered correctly. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact technical support.
