Setting up Pidgin tutorial for Windows/Linux

We recommend that our Windows customers connect to SureVoIP IM using free Instant Messaging software called Pidgin. It should just take a few seconds to get set up.

If you don't already have Pidgin Instant Messenger, you can download it for free.

Download Pidgin

1. Launch Pidgin

2. Enter the Pidgin 'Add Account' dialog.

If this is your first time running Pidgin you can do this from the welcome screen. This dialog can also be found in the Pidgin 'Accounts' menu option and choose the 'XMPP' (Jabber) protocol.

3. Enter your SureVoIP IM credentials and accept the certificate

a.  Fill in the field 'Username:' with your SureVoIP IM username: e.g. ghenry,
b.  The 'Domain:' field with 'yourcompany.hosted.surevoip.co.uk',  
c.  The 'Resource:' field can be anything you like which is used to say where you're based e.g. Office/Laptop/Phone
d.  The 'Password' field with your SureVoIP IM password.

You will also probably want to check the box labeled 'Remember Password'. Click Save when you are done.
