How to Transfer a Call on Cisco SPA500 and Cisco SPA300 Series IP Phones

This guide explains how to transfer a phone call on the following handset models:

  • Cisco SPA303G
  • Cisco SPA501G
  • Cisco SPA502G
  • Cisco SPA504G
  • Cisco SPA508G
  • Cisco SPA509G
  • Cisco SPA512G
  • Cisco SPA514G
  • Cisco SPA525G2

An attended transfer is when you perform a call transfer and consult if the target person wishes to accept the call.

Once you have taken a call and identified the call is to be transferred:

  1. Press the xfer softkey
    This will place the caller on hold
  2. Dial the target extension number
  3. Press dial softkey
  4. When the target extension answers, consult if he/she wishes to take the call
    1. If the call is to be transferred press xfer softkey to complete the transfer
    2. If the call is not to be transferred simply press the cancel softkey
      The caller will be taken off hold and the call will resume

A blind transfer, also called an unattended transfer, is when you perform a call transfer without consulting with the target extension first.

Once you have taken a call and identified the call is to be transferred:

  1. Press the xfer softkey1)
    This will place the caller on hold
  2. Dial the target extension number
  3. Press dial softkey
  4. Immediately press the xfer softkey to complete the transfer
    When the target extension answers they will immediately be on call with the caller
